Bassett's Liquorice Allsorts Collector's Tin
One
side of the tin reads: "The Birth of Liquorice Allsorts - The
story begins with Charlie Thompson who worked for Bassetts in 1899 as
one of only four full time salesmen. One day when calling on a
wholesaler in Leicester, he had placed his sample tray of Liquorice and
Cream paste sweets on a chair. As he was taking his order an assistant
knocked the sweets over and they fell, all mixed up onto the floor.
Charlie tried to conceal the mishap by pushing the sweets into a heap,
out of the way. However the buyer exclaimed excitedly, "Wait a
moment, Charlie. I rather like the look of that assortment. Ask your
firm if they will supply me with all sorts mixed up together."
Liquorice Allsorts were born, and have been part of the British way of
life for the past 90 years." The other side of the tin reads:
"Bassetts Liquorice Allsorts are the Original Allsorts. The
assortment provides a unique variety of taste and texture, perfected
over many years of producing traditional British confectionery of the
highest quality. Bassetts Original Liquorice Allsorts celebrate their
90th Birthday this year, and still maintain their position as one of the

Bassett's Liquorice Allsorts Collector's Tin
One
side of the tin reads: "As you relax and enjoy the taste of
Bassett's Liquorice Allsorts you are eating the finest liquorice which
can trace back its origin over 2,000 years. Liquorice first found favour
with ancient royalty eaten by the Kings of Assyria and said by
historians to have been used by Cleopatra to enhance her beauty. In
ancient China and Greece, physicians praised the liquorice root for its
healing properties. The Roman army so believed in its rejuvenating
properties that they issued the legionnaires with liquorice roots to
quench their thirst on their long marches. After the fall of the Roman
Empire, the secrets of liquorice were kept safe and used in the various
monastic orders At the time of the crusades, monks started to settle in
England and they bought with them many liquorice plants and started the
first cultivation of liquorice in Great Britain." The other side of
the tin reads: "By the end of the 18th Century, liquorice was no
longer simply being used for medicines. As people came to love the taste
of liquorice in its own right a new industry grew up around the plant -
the liquorice confectionery business. Bassett's was founded in Sheffield
in 1842, and by the end of the century its name was synonymous with the
best quality liquorice sweets. Bassett's Liquorice Allsorts are the
Original Allsorts and first appeared in 1899. The assortment provides a
unique variety of taste and texture which has not been surpassed in over
ninety years. Bassett's Liquorice Allsorts still maintain their position

Hershey
Kisses Collectible Tin or Canister - Hometown Series #9
Front of tin shows a drawing of old-time 1934 scene of The Hotel Hershey
in Hershey Pennsylvania. Printed on back of tin is:
"The Hotel Hershey, constructed by Milton Hershey,
rests atop the highest hill in Hershey. The location was chosen because
of its commanding view of the beautiful countryside which includes the
community of Hershey, the Blue Ridge Mountains of Pennsylvania, and the
surrounding scenic dairy farmland. The Hotel's atmosphere follows the
finest of old Spanish traditions. Many of the ideas were inspired by Mr.
Hershey's travels throughout the world. In fact, the Fountain Lobby
carries the influence of Cuban architecture. The building is large and
impressive, built entirely of glazed brick and is generously adorned
with sun porches. Flower gardens, shrubbery and lawn surround the Hotel
on all sides. Milton Hershey planned the Hotel soon after completion of
the first chocolate plant in 1905, however construction did not begin
until 1932. The formal opening took place on May 30, 1933."
The back of the tin also has the ingredients plus "Mfd. by
Hershey Chocolate U.S.A. Hershey, Pennsylvania 17033-09815 U.S.A. A
Division of Hershey Foods Corporation." Printed on bottom of tin is

Wanted - Looking for hard-plastic McDonald's lunchbox that is shaped like an actual
restaurant. Roof was the opening. Roof was brown with rectangle indentions to look like bricks. The bottom was red with the logo in front. There was a thermos that was red that also had the logo on the front. The lid was yellow. I had this lunchbox in 1975 or 1976. It was lost during a move. I am trying to locate another one. Please contact me at "mbrown380 @
