Antique Set of Bavarian White Dishes - with gold edges. This set has 8 plus dinner plates, salad plates, cups and saucers, bread and butter plates, plus 3 sizes of serving platters. Two covered oval serving bowls, all trimmed in gold trim. One round covered serving bowl, edged in gold. The bowls have decorative finials on top. Also covered butter dish, smal oval serving dish and small pitcher. Approximately 13 serving pieces, and serving for 8 on the dishes, plus some extras. - The Edwin M. Knowles Company
The Edwin M. Knowles Company was established in Chester, West Virginia, but moved to Newell, West Virginia, in 1900. The Knowles Company in later years was managed by a nephew, Fred B. Lawrence, Sr.
Efforts to find a buyer for the plant in 1962 proved futile. In 1963, Robert Boyce and a Mr. Tuck, area businessman, bought the Knowles real estate.
